Magic Truffles

Premium Sclerotia & Exotic Truffles

Fresh Sclerotia Truffles Discover the unique characteristics of our Premium Sclerotia, often referred to in the mycology world as “Philosopher’s Stones.” Unlike traditional fruit bodies (mushrooms), sclerotia are dense, compact nodules of mycelium that grow underground. At Portland Shroom House, we offer fresh, high-quality sclerotia known for their distinct nutty flavor, firm texture, and unique botanical properties.

What Makes Our Sclerotia Special?

 * Farm-Fresh Harvest: Unlike dried mushrooms, our truffles are harvested and packaged fresh to preserve their natural state and density.
 * Vacuum-Sealed Freshness: Oxygen is the enemy of fresh sclerotia. We vacuum-seal every pack immediately after harvest to lock in moisture and prevent oxidation.
 * Premium Genetics: We source only the most robust and stable genetics, ensuring consistent size and formation in every pack. Fresh Sclerotia Truffles

Storage & Care

Since sclerotia are a fresh product, proper storage is critical:
 * Refrigerate Immediately: Upon arrival, place your vacuum-sealed pack in the refrigerator (36-40°F). Do not freeze them, as this destroys the cell structure.
 * Consume Fresh: For the best experience, we recommend using the product within 2-3 months of purchase.
 * After Opening: Once the vacuum seal is broken, dry the truffles on a paper towel and consume them quickly to avoid spoilage.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is the difference between a mushroom and a truffle?
A: A mushroom is the reproductive fruit body that grows above ground, while a truffle (sclerotium) is a hardened mass of mycelium that forms underground as a food reserve for the fungus.
Q: How do these taste compared to dried mushrooms?
A: Sclerotia typically have a sour, nutty taste and a chewy texture, similar to a soft nut, which many find more palatable than the earthy taste of dried mushrooms.
Q: Do you ship these dried or fresh?
A: We ship our sclerotia fresh and vacuum-sealed. They are not dehydrated like our standard mushroom caps.
